Kelly has always believed that the best travel experiences come from good food, meaningful connections, and the people you meet along the way. As the founder of Le Bon Chaperon and part of the family behind Le Bon Macaron, she creates intimate journeys inspired by the places her family loves most. Together with Wendy, she brings a personal approach to every trip, making traveling with Le Bon Chaperon feel like traveling with family.

Wendy has made Spello her second home, building friendships and discovering the people, places, and traditions that make Umbria so special. As Kelly’s mom and co-host, she loves sharing the everyday moments, local connections, and simple pleasures that have made this corner of Italy feel like home. Through Casa Kobus, her home in the heart of Spello, she has become even more connected to the village and the people who make it special.

Local Expert & Family Friend
Stefania is one of the people who has made Spello feel like home to us. With her deep knowledge of the village and the people who live here, she has introduced us to so many of the places and experiences we love most. Along with her beloved dog, Tea, Stefania has become part of our family and an important part of what makes Spello home. Her friendship, warmth, and love for this village are reasons we love sharing Spello with others. We’re so happy you’ll get to meet her.

Kelly’s sister, Chelsea, is part of the Le Bon Chaperon family and will be joining us throughout the week. She’ll be there to lend a hand, capture the moments you’ll want to remember, and help make the experience as personal and welcoming as it should be.

DAY 1 – Saturday, October 2 | Arrival in Spello
3 P.M. · ARRIVAL
Guests arrive at the Foligno train station and our driver for the week will provide transport to Spello. Final time will be determined closer to departure.
LATE AFTERNOON · EXPLORE
Settle into accommodations, take time to unwind or stroll into the heart of Spello. Browse the charming streets, stop for a café, or simply soak in the atmosphere.
EVENING · APERITIVO
We'll gather at Casa Kobus for an aperitivo and light dinner and a chance to meet your fellow travelers.

DAY 2 – Sunday, October 3 | Day of Rest
A DAY TO EXPLORE
After arriving in Spello, take the day to settle in and make yourself at home. Wander the village, enjoy a leisurely coffee, do a little shopping, or simply rest and take in your surroundings.
LATE AFTERNOON · DISCOVER SPELLO
Explore the medieval streets of Spello with a local guide, uncovering its Roman past, beautiful churches, hidden treasures, and breathtaking views. Along the way, discover the stories and traditions that make our beloved hill town so special.
EVENING · DINNER TOGETHER
We'll gather for dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants to enjoy a relaxed evening to get to know one another and begin our week together.

DAY 3 – Monday, October 4 | Spoleto
MORNING · EXPLORE SPOLETO
Explore the historic hilltop city of Spoleto with a local guide, discovering its Roman ruins, medieval streets, grand cathedral, and impressive fortress. From the ancient Roman theatre to the iconic Bridge of Towers, experience the layers of history and beauty that make Spoleto so captivating.
LUNCH · A LONG LUNCH IN SPOLETO
Enjoy a leisurely multi-course lunch in the heart of Spoleto, where traditional Umbrian flavors are paired with a creative, contemporary approach. Settle in and savor a seasonal menu highlighting the region’s finest ingredients at this Michelin-recommended restaurant.
AFTERNOON · BACK TO SPELLO
Return to Spello with time to relax, rest or explore.
EVENING · AN EVENING OF UMBRIAN WINE
Spend an evening with a local sommelier, tasting a selection of carefully chosen Umbrian wines and learning about the stories, traditions and people behind each bottle. Enjoy a few simple local bites including artisan cheeses, salumi and bruschetta, all thoughtfully chosen to complement the wines.

DAY 4 – Tuesday, October 5 | Montefalco & Bevagna
MORNING · MONTEFALCO & BEVAGNA
Discover two of Umbria’s most beautiful hill towns, each with its own character. Explore the medieval streets and piazzas of Bevagna before making your way to Montefalco, known as the “Balcony of Umbria” for its spectacular views across the surrounding countryside.
AFTERNOON · WINE & LUNCH IN THE VINEYARDS
Spend the day surrounded by the vineyards of Montefalco and Bevagna, exploring the wines that make this corner of Umbria so special. Enjoy a leisurely, wine-paired lunch overlooking the countryside before visiting a historic family-run estate, where you’ll taste the region’s celebrated Sagrantino and discover the traditions behind these remarkable wines.

DAY 5 – Wednesday, October 6 | Assisi
MORNING · ASSISI & ST. FRANCIS
Explore Assisi, the beautiful hill town that was home to St. Francis, one of the most influential figures in Christian history. Born here into a wealthy merchant family, Francis gave up his comfortable life and devoted himself to simplicity, peace, and serving the poor. His message inspired the Franciscan Order and continues to resonate around the world today. Enjoy a private guided tour of the Basilica of St. Francis and several of Assisi’s other important churches, discovering the stories, art and history connected to Francis and his life. Then wander the medieval streets and experience the history and spirit that make Assisi so unique.

LATE AFTERNOON · A PEACEFUL AFTERNOON AT EREMO
After our time in Assisi, travel into the forested slopes of Mount Subasio to Eremo delle Carceri, a peaceful 13th-century hermitage where St. Francis and his followers came to pray and retreat from the world. Explore the small monastery, ancient caves and quiet paths through the woods, including the places where Francis is believed to have spent time in prayer and contemplation. Surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of nature, it’s a wonderfully peaceful way to experience another, more intimate side of St. Francis and the landscape he loved.

DAY 6 – Thursday, October 7 | Cooking Class

Spend the day at an Umbrian farmhouse nestled among ancient olive orchards above Bevagna. Work alongside your hosts to prepare a traditional Umbrian meal, with a mid-morning aperitivo along the way.
AFTERNOON · LUNCH TOGETHER
Sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labor, accompanied by the stories and traditions behind the food. You'll leave with the recipes from your class to take home with you.

Tonight is yours to enjoy Spello at your own pace. Wander the charming medieval streets, linger over an aperitivo, or choose one of the town’s wonderful restaurants for dinner.

DAY 6 – Friday, October 8 | A Day in Spello
SPELLO YOUR WAY
Our final day in Umbria is yours to enjoy however you wish. Wander the medieval streets, revisit a favorite spot, browse the local shops, linger over a long lunch, or simply soak in the beauty of Spello. There’s no set schedule today, just time to do as you wish and savor your last day in this special corner of Italy.
We’re happy to help arrange special experiences, from a scenic bike ride through the countryside to a private pottery class or something else you’ve been dreaming of doing in Umbria.
EVENING · FAREWELL DINNER
We gather together for one last special evening in Umbria. Over a beautiful dinner filled with wonderful food, local wine, and plenty of laughter, we’ll toast to the experiences we’ve shared, the friendships made, and the memories we’ll carry home. A fitting final night in a place that has hopefully begun to feel a little like home.

DAY 7 – Saturday, October 9 | Departure
ARRIVEDERCI, UMBRIA
After breakfast, we'll say our goodbyes and accompany you to the Spello train station for your morning departure.
